WINE REVIEWS
Tasting Panel Magazine
2006 Kiamie Kuvée, 93 Points, Review by Meridith May (October 2009)
"Aged over 18 months in Hungarian and French oak, this wine is not about the fruit (Bordeaux-li...ke, as nothing dominates) as much as the complexity of its earthy, rustic soul. Deep coffee and dusty tannins play a role as well as roses, violets and dark chocolate rasberry. It's all in balance lingering with old-school nuances and restrained fruit. " - Meridith May (Publisher/Exexutive Editor)
2006 R'Own Style Blend, 89 Points, Review by Anthony Dias Blue (September 2009)
"Smooth lush and dense with lovely blackberry and ripe flavors; mellow, rich and balanced."
2006 Meritage, 90 Points, Review by Anthony Dias Blue (August 2009)
"Rich and dense with lovely acid structure and smooth, velvety texture; ripe, deep and nicely balanced with length, complexity and style."
2005 Kiamie Kuvée, 91 Points, Review by Anthony Dias Blue (September 2008)
“Concentrated and lush with velvety texture and bright, tangy fruit flavors; complex and nicely structured.”
San Fransisco Chronicle, March 2009
2006 Kiamie White Kuvée, TWO AND A HALF STARS
(Key Rating: FOUR STARS Extraordinary Rating: THREE STARS Excellent Rating: TWO STARS Good)
"The White Kuvee is one of the three wines in Kiamie's inaugural release. Made of 65 percent Roussanne and 35 percent Viognier, this wine has an almost candied nose of honeydew, papaya and ripe pear with underlying golden apple. Nicely crafted, there's a perception of sweetness with a vanilla hint balanced by tangy acidity; a slight bitterness and a bit of heat on the finish minimally detracts." - Lynne Char Bennett
Wine Advocate, June 2008 (#177)
2006 Kiamie White Kuvée, 87 Points
"The 2006 Proprietary White Derby Vineyard exotically-scented blend of 65% Roussane and 35% Viognier displays plenty of tropical fruit and melony notes buttressed by decent acidity as well as a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years." - Robert Parker
Wine Enthusiast Magazine
2006 R'Own Style Blend: 87 Points (October 2009)
2006 Meritage: 90 Points (October 2009)
"A fine example of a ripe, balanced Paso Robles Bordeaux blend. This Cab-based wine is very dry and quite tannic, with rich blackberry, black currant, herb and cedar flavors. Feels classy and elegant, and could age for a couple years." —S.H.
2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, 88 Points (December 2008)
2005 Kiamie Kuvée, 88 Points (December 2008)
2006 White Kuvée, 87 Points (December 2008)
Wine Spectator Magazine
2006 R'Own Style Blend: 89 Points (March 2010)
"Strikes a nice balance between ripe, supple wild berry, plum, spice, cedar and mineral flavors and hints of anise, turning sleek and delicate on the finish with fine-grain tannins. Syrah, Grenache, Zinfandel and Viognier. Drink now through 2017. 900 cases made." - J.L.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, November/December 2009 (# 147)
2005 Kiamie Kuvée, 88 Points
"Inky ruby. Dark berries and smoked meat on the nose, with complicating notes of tobacco and dried flowers. Weighty and round, with deep dark fruit and bitter cherry flavors framed by dusty tannins. Finishes with good clarity and lift, repeating the dark berry note." - Stephen Tanzer
2007 Kiamie White Kuvée, 88 Points
"Peach, nectarine and honeydew on the nose. Lush, gently sweet melon and pit fruit flavors are energized by a note of peppery spice and gain weight with air. The melon note repeats on the focused, persistent finish." - Stephen Tanzer
The Wine Wench, May 2009
2007 Kiamie White Kuvée, FOUR STARS
"Ooooh! Juicy! Green apple, lemon, honeysuckle, jasmine, basil and clean mineral notes delight the nose and continue as flavors in the lush, creamy mouth. Absolutely delicious!" - Sue Straight
