2007 MERITAGE

An extended barrel-aging program on our 2007 Meritage blend has created a fully-developed nose with an array of aromatic herbs and spice, complimented by sweet scents of toast and oak. The initial entry is soft and expansive with flavors reminiscent of black currants and damson plum and leading to a finish of spiced cherry compote. An essential moderating dose of tannin and acidity keep all this in fairly tight order for the time being, suggesting that mid-term bottle aging would reward a more fully-developed wine.

Recommended Food Pairing:
Braised beef short-ribs in a broth of herb-scented red wine, served with a chanterelle/porcini mushroom risotto and a side of balsamic-glazed carrot and beet hash.
